Israeli universities are offering free online courses to help youths and people in the workforce stay current in their professions.
The Internet allows these universities to offer certain courses that can be taken by enrolls across the world.
Reports from 2012 show that Israel continues to lag behind the rest of the developed world in employment, productivity, and education. The reports are from the 2012 State of the Nation Report.
The report found that the trend was a long-term one and a threat to the economy.
In 2015, Israel ranked 39th in education out of 76 nations based off of standardized tests. There’s a growing education problem that needs to be solved in Israel. Universities have started to offer free courses to bridge the education gap.
The three universities making a difference through free education, include:
1. Hebrew University of Jerusalem
The Hebrew University of Jerusalem is offering free courses to students. The university is the second-oldest in Israel and was established in 1918. The university is ranked the best in Israel and 59th in the world, according to the Academic Ranking of World Universities.
The university offers free courses on Coursera.
